- A lady is a White, high-class lady and a squaw is portrayed to be a dirty, wild Indian. The racial significance is there shouldn't be one because she's half white and half Indian yet because she has the Indian in her, she's automatically considered inferior to the Ladies.

2. Describe a nursery rhyme in Plum Bun and how it relates to the book.

-The keywords of the nursery rhyme divide Angela's story and it relates to the chronological order of the book.

3. Describe the western viewpoints of women in the play M. Butterfly

-Women are to cook and clean

How do the characters in each of the books: Humishuma's Cogewea, M Buurefly and Plum Bun contradict stereotypes of gender roles and/or ethnicity?

Humishuma's Cogewea: She contradicts the stereotype that skin color determines whether one is a "lady" or a better racer.
M.Butterfly: She/he contradicts the stereotype of a "perfect woman".
Plum Bun: She contradicts the stereotype that skin color is related to performance in art and a career.
