The Color Purple by Alice Walker-Rough Draft
Thesis: The Color purple is about an individual who is lost. She (Celie) is lost in a life of abuse and yearns for the feelings of “real love” and also what it feels like to be cared for. Over times this young girl begins to see strong women stand up for themselves and she questions why she can’t do the same. Eventually Celie becomes more recognizing of the way she is treated and demands more for herself. Celie is stronger than she can even imagine. Life is about overcoming adversity and finding who you truly are.

Nettie’s letters opens up Celie’s eyes on the world and empowers her in different ways as well.

Celie finds herself and becomes courageous. Despite her past she does not let it hold her back.
